Outstanding oil on canvas portrait of Louisa Pleydell Bouverie at about age ten, in white dress and pantaloons, holding a spray of flowers and a wooden shovel, with a castle in the background, c.1821, 51" x 39.5", in museum quality hand carved gilt frame with exceptional detail including florettes, shells, scrolls, blossoms, dramatic curved leaves, and pierced work, 62" x 52", frame in very good condition. 10,000-15,000 Louisa Bouverie (1811-1898) was daughter of Admiral Duncombe Pleydell Bouverie, second son of the Lord Radnor. She was married to the Honorable Samuel Hay. Note on back reads: Dec 18, 1893. I wish my cousin Henry H. Haydell Bouverie of 3 Rymon Somerset to have this picture at my death. Louisa Haydell. |
