Leon Danchin, France, 1887-1939, Two pointer dogs in field, color engraving, 13" x 25.75" image, 14.25" x 26.5" plate, pencil signed and numbered 265/550, marked in upper left Copyright 1932 by La Gravure Francaise 41 Rue St Georges Paris, good image, foxing, some wrinkling to paper. 300-500 Danchin studied sculpture L'Ecole des Beaux Art in Paris and was accepted by the Salon des Artists from the age of sixteen. He later expanded his interests into oil and watercolor painting and engraving. His hunting scenes, and in particular his depictions of dogs, are among the most popular of the twentieth century. |
