Sitzman was born in Cincinnati, where he studied at the Art Academy with Duveneck and Farny. He also studied in London and Munich. He set up a studio in Indianapolis, and was a member of the Indiana Art Club, Indianapolis Art Association, and the Chicago Galleries Association. |

He was honored many times by the American Watercolor Society, and his memberships included the Salmagundi Club. |
