Pair of early 19th century Russian figural gilt bronze seven-light candelabra, each with semi draped woman holding a wreath in one hand, and in the other a large torch supporting the candle arms, all finely decorated with acanthus scrolls and blossoms, pedestal with petal-tip rims surrounding continuous frieze of cherubs and animals at play, top of each pedestal features the crest of Prince Demidov supported by two beasts and under a crown, 31.5", electrified, excellent condition. The Demidov (Dimidoff, Demidow) family acquired great wealth in the 18th century through iron mining and the production of weapons for the tsars. 5,000-10,000 | ||

An arab man stands on a large carpet next another man kneeling with his hand in a box of merchandise, behind him sits a table holding a hookah, coffee pot and lidded box.
