56. Glen Cooper Henshaw, IN, 1884-1946, Scene Near Yonkers NY, 1916, pastel, 7.5" x 5.5", signed, with original label on artist's New York studio stationary. 200-400

Henshaw was born in Indiana, lived in Baltimore and New York, and studied at the Herron Art Institute, Munich Academy, Academie Julian and the Ecole des Beaux Arts. The Richmond Art Museum holds many of Henshaw's works.

Davidson was a student of Paul Chidlaw, and studied at the Art Students League of New York and the Herron Institute. She was an exhibitor at the Hoosier Salon.

17. Ray Anthony Grathwol, Cleveland, b.1900, Industrial harbor scene, oil on board, 18" x 24", signed. 500-700

Ray Grathwol was a Cleveland-area modernist painter active primarily in the 1940's. He exhibited widely, including entries at the Carnegie Inst., the Butler Art Inst., and the Akron Art Inst. He is represented in numerous Ohio museum collections.

50. George Gustav Adomeit, Cleveland, 1879-1967, Woman seated on porch, oil on board, 8" x 14", unsigned, Estate of George Adomeit stamped on reverse. 400-600

Born in Germany, Adomeit settled in Cleveland as a child. He trained in commercial printing, studied at the Cleveland School of Art, had a print company called the Caxton Press, and eventually became known for his painting.

Born in Michigan, Frederick Stuart Church studied in New York at the Art Student's League and the National Academy of Design, of which he was later made a member. He was an illustrator for Harper's Magazine, and an accomplished etcher.

Note: this sketch is framed with a tag reading "Henry Church" but after further input and research we feel this tag is incorrect, and that this sketch is by F.S. Church.

Oregon-born Oscar Coast studied in Paris and Rome, and worked mostly in New York City and Santa Barbara. He was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Brooklyn Art Association. He exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exposition, the National Academy of Design, and the Pennsylvania Academy.

Listed New York painter and muralist. Exhibited with the Woodstock NY Art Association.

266. Geoffrey Holt, CA, 1882-1977, Western landscape, oil on board, 12" x 16", signed. 400-600

Born in England, Holt lived in Minnesota and later California. He is known for his western landscapes, including Grand Canyon and California mission scenes.

Helen Hyde is best known for her depictions of Japanese children, and she pioneered the Japanese method of wood block printing in the United States. She studied at the School of Design with Emil Carlsen, at the Art Students League in New York, with R. Collin in Paris for three years, and Kano Tomonobu in Tokyo.

Painter of coastal scenes, landscapes, portraits, and miniatures. Studied at the Art Students League of New York. Exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Brooklyn Society of Artists, North Shore Art Association.

Woodwell exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exhibition, National Academy of Design, Art Institute of Chicago, and Panama Pacific Exhibition of 1915. He worked in Pennsylvania, California, and Niagra Falls.
